Neta Raanan
Neta Raanan is a tenor saxophonist and composer raised in New Jersey. As a teenager, Neta was drawn to the mysterious black and white photos of Bird and Dizzy, Thelonious Monk and Lester Young perched on the walls of the record stores in New York City. She began attending creative music workshops all over the east coast, participating in youth orchestras and ensembles, as well as frequenting local venues like the Village Vanguard where she was exposed to artists such as Paul Motian, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and others.
After high school, Neta continued to nurture her musicianship, gathering influences and approaches from iconic teachers and peers during her time at Berklee College of music.
Since earning her Masters in Music degree, Neta has been pursuing a life in creative music. Her collaborations supporting other artists span across genres, ranging from folk music to accompanying hip-hop artists and singer/songwriters, and mixed medium productions.
